Images & Sound’s Baselight colour grading system is the ideal solution for all projects from small indie shorts through to feature films. Baselight offers real time colour grading and advanced image manipulation on wide variety of camera formats, which means what may take a lesser grading system days to do, we can achieve real time in a client attended session.
Our dedicated Baselight 2 grading suite is operated by some of the most experienced colourists in New Zealand, able to finish your project to a world class standard but without the Hollywood price tag.
An experienced colourist not only helps you achieve the look you are after, but they also can fix a range of problems which are not able to be dealt with properly in the offline edit. Such as: focus issues, noise reduction, and a range of real time tools to selectively work on certain areas of the image. Another key difference between DYI grading systems and using a specialist is consistency and time saving. When trying to set the look of a project yourself it can change over and over due to uncertainty, and take days rather than minutes. When you work with a career professional you have the comfort of relying on their experience and knowledge to talk through your ideas. They can quickly set looks for your scenes to try out your ideas, and then apply the grade to make all the shots in the scene match, and any other tweaks all in real-time playback, saving you what could be weeks of “re-inventing the wheel” at home or on lesser grading systems.
When sending tape or file masters to networks locally or overseas, you need to ensure you don’t have any content rejected. We can help ensure this by legalising your audio content to broadcast levels. Legalisation means your audio doesn’t exceed the maximum limits set by broadcasters, and this can vary from country to country, network to network. We have mastered content for virtually all requirements and specifications, so you can be sure that if you have your audio content legalised by us, it will pass QC.
